Often called ”the fastest game on two feet,” lacrosse is a traditional Native American game that’s popular at all levels in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and Japan. It’s now gaining in global popularity and is being considered for the 2028 Olympic Games (it was formerly an event at the 1904 and 1908 Olympics). Men’s and Women’s 2022 NCAA Lacrosse Championship Schedule
On the women’s side, Boston College will look to repeat as back-to-back champs behind Charlotte North, who just became the NCAA’s all-time leading goal scorer (for men or women). If the Eagles can get past a tough Maryland squad, they may have to face undefeated, #1-ranked North Carolina, a team that already defeated them twice this season and features two Tewaaraton (player of the year) finalists in Jamie Ortega and Ally Mastroianni.
The men’s bracket has seen some exciting upsets, but the #1-ranked, undefeated Maryland Terps have dominated their way through the tournament so far. They’ll play a Princeton squad that’s just reached its first Final Four since 2004. Another traditional Ivy League power, Cornell, beat the Tigers in the regular season finale, and will meet Rutgers, which is appearing in its first-ever Final Four. One of Cornell’s leading attackers, CJ Kirst, will face his own brother, Scarlet Knights goalie Colin Kirst.
