How to stream the Indy 500 live

Published: Oct 11, 2018

Since 1911, the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race has been a towering fixture on the global motorsports calendar.

Live race coverage began in 1922, with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network. When television emerged, speedway owners resisted, at first allowing only closed-circuit showings in theaters to avoid depressing track attendance. In 1965, ABC became the first TV broadcaster to cover the Indy 500, beginning the second-longest partnership between a sporting event and television network, after CBS and the Masters golf tournament.

But 2019 marks the end of the historic partnership, as NBC commences a three-year deal to broadcast the Indy 500. With streaming viewership growing about 20% a year, NBC’s online platforms are the way to watch. Tune in with ExpressVPN and catch every second!
