NFL International Game Pass vs. NFL+

Until this year, there were two versions of NFL Game Pass: Game Pass International, and U.S. Game Pass. In 2022, the NFL discontinued U.S. Game Pass and introduced the NFL+ app. What’s the difference between watching NFL Game Pass International and NFL+ in the U.S.?

Price: 5-10 USD/month, or 40-80 USD/year

New in 2022, the NFL+ app offers NFL game live streams for a single team (within your home market) along with national primetime games. However NFL+ is only available for live streams on mobile and tablet devices, and does not stream as reliably as Game Pass. It provides streams of out-of-market preseason games, live game audio (for all games, with all feeds), and the NFL Films archive, but if you want to stream NFL games on your TV without blackouts, Game Pass International is the way to go.

NFL Game Pass International

Price: From 30 USD/year

In most other markets, such as Mexico, Brazil, and most EU countries, the international NFL Game Pass offers all 272 regular-season games plus the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl. Users trying to watch the NFL in the UK or Ireland are subject to blackouts on some games, and for viewers who want to stream the NFL in Canada, Game Pass is available exclusively through DAZN.

Most international Game Pass subscribers get access to NFL RedZone, the NFL Network, and all NFL Films programming. There’s a seven-day free trial available.

More Game Pass Information

If you’re looking for more information before committing to a Game Pass subscription, here are some answers to some of the questions you may have:

Is NFL Game Pass UK the same as International Game Pass?

In a word, no. Regional broadcasting rights in the UK and the Republic of Ireland mean certain games are subject to blackout restrictions.

This applies even if a subscriber from the UK or Ireland is in another part of the EU. Existing EU Portability Regulations require UK and Ireland blackout restrictions to apply no matter where in the EU the subscriber is.

Can I watch NFL Game Pass in Europe?

EU viewers who subscribe to NFL Game Pass from most locations other than the UK or Ireland should have access to all games live, although limited blackouts may apply if such users try to watch from the UK or Ireland.

Where is the cheapest location to get NFL International Game Pass?

NFL international Game Pass prices vary from region to region, but South American locations tend to offer the lowest prices, which can get as low as 75 USD for the season. For information about specific countries, contact ExpressVPN Support.

Subscription refunds are valid up to seven days from the purchase date. Free trial refunds are valid up to three days after the trial ends. More details can be found on the NFL Digital Care site.

Which devices can I watch International NFL Game Pass on?

NFL Game Pass works on the following devices. To set up ExpressVPN on your device, follow the corresponding link below:

Speaking of the Dolphins, there are only 31 first-round picks this year because Miami forfeited theirs following a 2022 investigation into tampering.

2022 NFL award watch

The 2022 NFL season moved quickly, and some of the league’s premier players earned hardware for their stellar seasons. The NFL officially has five major awards related to on-field play: Most Valuable Player, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, and Coach of the YearDallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott earned the Walter Payton Man of the Year, which recognizes a player’s impact on his community but is not solely tied to performance. You can find all 32 nominees here.

In November 2022, the NFL and AP announced a significant change to the MVP voting process. Rather than only picking one player, voters are allowed to rank five players. With the regular season officially over, here are who we believe will win each of the NFL’s five major performance-related awards:

NFL MVP: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs

After previously winning the MVP Award in 2018, Patrick Mahomes joined an exclusive club as a multi-time recipient. In hindsight, we should have figured the Texas Tech product was ready for a massive 2022 season when he fired five touchdown passes in a season-opening victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Mahomes ended the 2022 season leading the NFL in passing yards (5,250) and touchdowns (41); his 5,614 yards of total offense set a new league record and carried the Chiefs to the AFC’s No. 1 seed. Mahomes is the NFL’s top quarterback, and he thrived despite the loss of All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill, who enjoyed his own MVP-caliber season in Miami. The 27-year-old earned 48 of the 50 first-place votes.

Midseason pick: Mahomes

Finalists: Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles (one first-place vote); Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills (one first-place vote)

Offensive Player of the Year: Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Mahomes certainly has a case to win both Offensive Player of the Year and MVP after his record 2022 campaign. However, four of the last five OPOY winners did not win the MVP award that same year, and we expect that outcome to repeat here. Jefferson led the NFL in receptions (128), receiving yards (1,809), and yards per game (106.4) in his third consecutive Pro Bowl season. Still only 23, Jefferson added nine total touchdowns and recorded a first down on 62.5% of his catches. Not bad for a player who can sign an extension this coming offseason! Jefferson earned 35 of 50 first-place votes.

Midseason pick: Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins

Other candidates:Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs (10 first-place votes); Jalen Hurts, QB, Eagles (three first-place votes). Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen each received one first-place vote.

Defensive Player of the Year: Nick Bosa, EDGE, San Francisco 49ers

Bosa made his case for Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, totaling 15.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and a league-high 21 tackles for loss. For an encore, the former No. 2 overall pick posted an NFL-leading 18.5 sacks in 16 starts for the 49ers this year. Bosa added 48 quarterback hits, 19 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. The Ohio State product carried the 49ers’ defense as injuries depleted the offense, and he tallied 46 of 50 first-place votes to earn his first DPOY award.

Midseason pick: Micah Parsons, LB, Dallas Cowboys

Other candidates: Micah Parsons, LB. Dallas Cowboys (who somehow finished second despite receiving zero first place-votes); Chris Jones, DT, Kansas City Chiefs (one first-place vote). Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick earned two first-place votes and New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams received the other first-place vote.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Garrett Wilson, WR, New York Jets

This one came down to the wire! Wilson, the 10th overall pick last spring, won Offensive Rookie of the Year despite receiving one fewer first-place vote than Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III. However, Wilson earned 19 second-place tallies to Walker’s eight. Wilson led all rookies with 83 catches and 1,103 receiving yards amid the Jets’ constant quarterback woes.

Midseason pick: Kenneth Walker III, RB, Seattle Seahawks

Other candidates: Kenneth Walker III, RB, Seattle Seahawks (18 first-place votes), Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco 49ers (six first-place votes). New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave earned five first-place votes, and Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier and Baltimore Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum each received one.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, CB, New York Jets

Although Gardner never allowed a touchdown in college, some draft analysts were skeptical because he achieved the feat at Cincinnati, a mid-major, as opposed to in the SEC or Big 12. Gardner, the fourth overall pick in April, quickly silenced the doubters en route to becoming one of the league’s top young shutdown corners. In fact, Gardner ended his rookie season without giving up a single touchdown in coverage. The 2021 All-American selection won Defensive Rookie of the Year and landed on the All-Pro team. Gardner captured 46 first-place votes for Rookie of the Year.

Other candidates: Aidan Hutchinson, DE, Detroit Lions (three first-place votes); Tariq Woolen, CB, Seattle Seahawks (one first-place vote)

Comeback Player of the Year: Geno Smith, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Forget Comeback Player of the Year. This is the comeback of the decade. When Smith replaced then-Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson midway through an October 2021 loss to the Rams, some fans may have been shocked the West Virginia product was still in the league. Seattle traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos in March and named Smith, who turned 32 in October, the starter. Never mind that Smith hadn’t been a full-time starter since 2014 and threw 196 total passes from 2015 through 2021. Not only did Smith outplay Wilson, but he posted career numbers and finally started a playoff game. Not even Hollywood could come up with such a plot! Smith capped the year by receiving 29 first-place votes.

Finalists: Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers (12 first-pace votes), New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (four first-place votes). Note that Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt., Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates, and Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Brandon Graham all also received at least one first-place vote.

Coach of the Year: Brian Daboll, New York Giants

Daboll inherited a Giants franchise desperately needing leadership, stability, and innovation. The veteran offensive coordinator provided all three en route to helping Big Blue earn its first postseason berth since 2016. Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka helped quarterback Daniel Jones overcome a lack of proven offensive weapons, and the rookie head coach kept the team focused amid a late-season slump. Let’s see how long it takes before Daboll has the Giants parading down the Canyon of Heroes. Daboll earned 16 of 50 first-place votes.

Midseason pick: Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins

Finalists: Kyle Shanahan, San Francisco 49ers (12 first-place votes); Doug Pederson, Jacksonville Jaguars; (five first-place votes). Note that Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott (seven), Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni (six), and Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid (two) each received multiple first-place votes. The Detroit Lions’ Dan Campbell and Minnesota Vikings’ Kevin O’Connell each received one.

Other professional football leagues

As football fans waited for the 2023 NFL season to begin, they still had plenty of ways to get their gridiron fix. Here’s our guide on which professional football leagues you need to try watching this summer.

Canadian Football League

What to know: Until the NFL returns, the CFL is your best bet for legitimate professional football. The 2022 Canadian campaign began in June and will run through November 20, when two teams will battle it out for the 109th Grey Cup. Dallas Cowboys fans will recognize BC Lions receiver Lucky Whitehead, who has carved out a solid career up North.

Our favorite way to watch with a VPN: All CFL games air in the U.S. on ESPN networks, though some are exclusive to ESPN+, which costs 10 USD/month and comes with a seven-day free trial. ESPN+ is also available in a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu’s on-demand service for 14 USD/month.

Fan Controlled Football

What to know: Have you ever watched an NFL game and believed you’d call better plays? The Fan Controlled Football league offers such an opportunity. Fans vote on all offensive plays in real time and even decide the outcomes of instant-replay reviews. Ex-Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, plays for the FCF Zappers.

Our favorite way to watch with a VPN: All FCF games air on the league’s official Twitch channel.

What to know: The USFL is back for a second season! Notable names expected to participate in the alternative league include New Jersey Generals running back Darius Victor, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, and Michigan Panthers defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, a former blue-chip recruit and first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals. The Generals return to defend their title, and the Bandits have relocated to Memphis after a year in Tampa Bay. The 2023 USFL regular season begins Saturday, April 15, and will end Sunday, June 18.

Our favorite way to watch with a VPN: USFL games will stream across Fox, FS1, NBC, Peacock, and the USA Network in 2023. We suggest using YouTube TV’s free trial (currently at 14 days) to catch every game!

What to know: After previous attempts in 2001 and 2020, the XFL returns for a third time. Dwayne Johnson now leads a league featuring several notable ex-NFLers, including former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon and veteran backup quarterback AJ McCarron. The 2023 XFL season officially kicked off on Saturday, February 18, and continues through Sunday, April 23.

Our favorite way to watch with a VPN: Every XFL game will air on ESPN+. Most XFL games will also air on FX, which is included in YouTube TV’s basic package.

  1. Since there wasn’t a single mention of the Steelers in the above recap of week 1 (they are from Pittsburgh For any newcomers in the house) it seems reasonable to not mention them, I suppose. They won a tough game in Buffalo against the Bills and have, arguably, the toughest schedule in nthe NFL this season. I just want to go on record as suggesting you ain’t seen nothing yet. Just sayin’.

  2. I’ve always loved the game of football itself, but never ever liked the NFL as an organization.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around & understanding the logic behind letting international customers watch most of the games live but not here in the US where the frigging game originated!
I tell ya it’s unamerican & the NFL should be held accountable!
Think I’ll start a movement to call out the NFL for treating US citizens this way, cause if it wasn’t for us fans here in the US the NFL wouldn’t exist!

  3. Hi!

I signed on yesterday and tried to get DAZN Canada, but unfortunately it didn’t work as it showed me an error when trying to sign in to DAZN. I looked up the error online on reddit and someone suggested trying from Vancouver but that didn’t work.
I tried going to the NFL game pass mexico site but it appeared to be blocked.

Has Dazn/NFL blocked Express VPN? if not, are there other ways for me to work this out?

  4. Increase the volume up on the sportcasters that are calling the Packers vs. Vikings game. On TV, the (faux) volume of the stand fans/white noise is louder thus we can’t clearly hear the calls. Thank you.

  5. I have expressvpn. I connected to Thailand and went to gamepass and started a trail for their top tier package. But whenever i go to watch the videos it just sits ad loading with the dots.

I’ve cleared my browser cookies and histrory, I’ve downloaded the browser extension, I tried both chrome and firefox, i updated flash…but still no go….Can you help me figure this out?

  6. hello, please help, i live in PA and i would like to watch my favorite team the atlanta falcons all year long including pre-season games. The only games that ever show in my area are the dam eagles and giants, what do i need to do to watch my falcons live??

    1. Hi Brent,

Try watching through the international version of NFL Game Pass. Simply connect to a non-U.S. location (you can get further advice by contacting Support: and purchase the Game Pass. This will give you access to every Falcons game, including the preseason and postseason, all the way up to the Super Bowl.

How are you feeling about the season? We’re expecting a bounce-back campaign for Atlanta after last year!

  7. I just moved from NY to Florida and want to stream and watch my NY Jets football games on my tv not a mobile device. I do not want to get satelite service just to get nfl sunday ticket. Do you have a solution that will work for me that is not too complicated? i have very good internet speeds

  8. Hello, I was bombed by NFL Game Pass that I can no longer get Game Pass in 2019 from Panama Central America where I live. I cover the Miami Dolphins for a living, so this puts me in a bind. I used the coaches cam on Game Pass regularly, so getting access to it , and the games is paramount to me smiling again. How can I get my former access back through your VPN? Just purchase, download, and then resign up for Game Pass? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi Michael,

Please try connecting to a U.S. server location and logging into your account. Domestic versions of NFL Game Pass include the All-22 Coaches Film. This feature may not be available to certain versions of the international Game Pass.

  9. I live in Williamsburg, VA. I have Direct TV. I want to see the Atlanta Falcons (in real time) but I am blocked except for regularly scheduled nationally televised games, how can I get around this block?

    1. Hi Susan,

If you’re watching in a web browser, please first connect to the VPN and make sure you have the ExpressVPN browser extension ( activated. If you’re watching on a mobile device, please make sure you’re connected to the VPN and allow location access if prompted.

For further assistance, please contact the Support team at

    1. Hi Luke,

Did you purchase the U.S. Game Pass or the international Game Pass?

If you’re using the international Game Pass, you should have no problem watching the games. Please try connecting to a non-U.S. VPN location before watching one of the games.

If you bought the U.S. Game Pass, you won’t be able to watch any of the games live. However, you can use Sling or any of the other services mentioned above. They all come with a free trial.

  10. Youtube will allow three changes of address then you just erase your account and sign in again and you will get three more address changes This is the way I received the NFL this year. I now better ways now! thanks for the ideas

  11. My husband is an avid Steelers fan. We live in Virginia so are subjected to plenty of blackouts on the season games. We have a full cable package on Comcast so are not limited by that source. We don’t have a smart TV but do have Samsung S9 phones on Verizon. What is our best option to see the games live?

      1. Quick Question — Once I sign up for the International Game Pass, do I need to VPN everytime I want to use it? Or can i just use my login and get access?

I would love to use the NFL APP on the Apple TV to navigate the games but not sure if I need to VPN in everytime in order to watch it.

  12. Just signed up for game pass via Germany server. Looks like I’m good to go with streaming live. Question: will I nerd to install expressvpn at the router level to use the NFL app on my Xbox one now that my international account is active? Like, will it black out a game if it knows my Xbox is stateside?

    1. Hi Zeke,

For Game Pass, connect to a VPN location in Asia and then purchase/access the international Game Pass. If you only want to follow the Dolphins, you can select the «Follow Your Team» package and save some money. If you need guidance on which locations to use, please speak to Support:

Another option to check out is NFL Sunday Ticket. DirecTV offers NFL Sunday Ticket as a standalone product, but you’ll need to prove that your address doesn’t support DirecTV or that you live in a multi-unit residence (like an apartment).

      Hope that helps!

  13. Want to watch the Washington Redskins from Florida, however, it is out-of-market . I downloaded ExpressVPN. Since it’s out-of-market, I have to select a Location that is not in the US, correct? I selected Canada based on the speed test. Is that correct? Now, what is the next step? Thank you.

    1. Hi Brooke,

Outside of DAZN, you can watch the games for free on mobile by downloading the NFL Mobile app or the Yahoo Sports app. Be sure to connect to a U.S. location before watching.

Otherwise, you can connect to an overseas location to purchase the international game pass. Good locations to try are Australia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.

    1. Hi Jimmy,

Some content and stream providers have started to block content based on the geolocation of users. The ExpressVPN browser extension prevents your browser from revealing your location and can help you access streams with privacy, no matter where you are.

Using the browser extension is not necessary for many sites, but for others, this will ensure an interruption-free streaming experience.

  14. I recently purchased NFL Game Pass, to watch the Kansas City Chiefs games while overseas. I didn’t realize the restrictions on watching overseas, so I just bought ExpressVPN, hoping that I can make it look like I’m still in the US. However, when I try to access the games, I am still having issues. In theory, should I be able to use ExpressVPN to watch the games outside of the US? If so, do you know what might be going wrong?

    1. Hi Steve,

To watch in the UK, try watching the games via the NFL app or the Yahoo Sports app. Remember to connect to a location in the U.S. before downloading the apps and make sure you’re still connected when watching the games.

    1. Hi Allie,

You can try watching the games using the Verizon or Yahoo Sports apps. Due to in-market restrictions, make sure you’re connected to a VPN location that’s showing the game or the nearest available location.

      1. I am also going to try this. I connected to a local VPN, but the yahoo sports app still says the game is not available in my location. Does that have to do with my phone GPS? Or is it because the game doesn’t start until tomorrow?

        1. I have trying to figure out how to watch the Colts for the past 2 years I have lived in Montana. The only teams that they ever play here are Seattle, Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota, and the nationally televised games. I’ve only gotten to watch 2 Colts games live in 2 years and one of the times I was actually in Texas. I’ve tried the VPN on my phone, Xbox one, laptop, and Roku Smart TV. All trying to use the NFL app. And I’ve also tried free trials of Sling, Fubo, YouTube, and just about anything else on all my devices and even being connected to the VPN it still only offers me the same teams/games. What would you recommend I try? And what location would be best for me to try and connect to? Thanks

          1. Is there a way to do it without using international game pass? I really just want to watch one team so I don’t want to pay that much when I could possibly do it with a cheaper subscription.

  15. I want to watch all NFL games via from my laptop or phone while I’m at work. If I purchase one of the 3 packages this will allow me to watch any and all NFL games? I especially only want to watch my Eagles. Please help!! Ty

    1. Hi Jade,

It depends on where you are. Verizon (via the NFL Mobile and Yahoo Sports apps) offers free streams, but you’ll need to check if the Eagles are an in-market game for where you are. Otherwise, you can sign up for any of the other paid packages, just be sure to cancel before the free trial ends and catch any other games you’re missing on Twitch (for free!)

    1. Hi Billy,

Not necessarily. This past season, Yahoo Sports offered free streams for the playoffs. Amazon offered free Thursday Night Football, while services like Sling TV showed regular season games and come with a free trial. With a VPN, a cable subscription is nice but not necessary 🙂

  16. I’m from Philadelphia, but will be in Israel for the Superbowl. The hotel that I’m staying at says that they don’t have Fox Sports, so I need to live stream the event to my devices—my iPhone 7 plus and my pad, which is an Android. For the latter, I was going to use ExpressVPN and YouTube TV, which is what you were saying a few days ago. But now you are saying to download TV player and have a TV license. Do I really need a licence? How do I get one? If I have to download TV Player, do I have to select a UK server thru ExpressVPN? Will the option that you were originally suggesting NOT work, i.e., ExpressVPN, selecting a US server, and using YouTube TV?

As a back-up, I was going to use ExpressVPN on my cell phone, select a US server, and download the Yahoo Sports app. Will that work?

Please advise on both matters. Thanks!
