ExpressVPN is not currently available for Vega OS, which includes the Fire Stick 4K Select (2025) and Fire TV Stick HD (2026) models.

Important: If you want to stream Prime Video content on your Amazon device, pick a server location that matches your Amazon account. Your Amazon country setting can be found under Your Account > Your Content and Devices > Preferences > Country/Region.

Switch to a different protocol

Important: Make sure you disconnect from the VPN before switching to a different protocol.

Protocols determine how your device establishes a connection with an ExpressVPN server. For optimal performance, we recommend using the Automatic protocol setting. It automatically selects the best-suited protocol for your current network, and it is enabled by default.

That said, in some cases, such as when advised to do so by our Support Team, switching to a different protocol may help you achieve faster connection speeds.

To change your protocol settings:

  1. Go to Options > Settings. The options menu in the ExpressVPN app for Fire OS, with the Settings option highlighted.
  2. Select VPN Protocol. The VPN protocol option in the Settings menu in the ExpressVPN app for Fire OS.
  3. Select the protocol you want to use.The VPN protocol list in the ExpressVPN app for Fire OS.
  4. Reconnect to your chosen location.

If connecting to a protocol other than Automatic or Lightway – UDP, you will see a pop-up asking if you are sure. Select Change Anyway to continue.

Note: When Advanced Protection features are turned on, only Automatic or Lightway protocols are available.

Block ads and trackers

You can block ads and trackers from within the ExpressVPN app in just a few steps.

A lot of the apps you visit may keep a record of and share your activity with third-party companies, including trackers. This information may be used to serve you more targeted ads and content.

These advanced protection features prevent all apps you visit on your device from communicating with the third-party companies in our open-source blocklists.

Advanced protection features are disabled by default. To enable them:

  1. Connect to the VPN.
  2. Go to Options > Settings.
  3. Select Advanced Protection.
  4. Turn on the advanced protection features to suit your needs.
