This tutorial guide will walk you through the steps to set up a VPN on your QNAP using PPTP.

Find your ExpressVPN account credentials
In order to use ExpressVPN on QNAP, you will need to set up a new VPN profile. To set up a VPN profile, you will need a server address, your account credentials, and the IPSec pre-shared key. This section of the tutorial will show you how to find all of this information.
Open the Welcome Email you received when you signed up for ExpressVPN. Click the link in the email.
If you can’t find the link, sign in to your account here.
Once you’ve clicked the link in the welcome email or logged into the website, click on Set Up on More Devices.
Click on Manual Config on the left side of the screen and then select PPTP & L2TP-IPSec on the right. This will show you your username, password, and a list of server addresses around the world.
Please note this information as you will need it to set up your VPN profile.
Login to your QNAP device
Access your QNAP device and log in using your QNAP credentials. You can log in to your QNAP device here.
Set up a VPN connection
After logging in, go to Control Panel.
Go to Applications > VPN Client.
On the VPN Client setup page, select Add and then PPTP.
Enter the following information (which you obtained previously) in the Create VPN Connection window:
Profile Name: Select a profile name of your choice
Server Address: Copy the server address of the location that you wish to connect to from Step 1
Username: Copy username from Step 1
Password: Copy password from Step 1
Encryption: High (AES 128 bit)
Ensure that Use default gateway on remote network and Reconnect when the VPN connection is lost are checked.
To add another location, repeat the above steps with the new server address.
Connect to the VPN server
To connect to the VPN, click the Connect button on the VPN Client page.
Disconnect from the VPN server
To disconnect from the VPN, click the Disconnect button on the VPN Client page.
