Your dedicated IP isn’t working with streaming or in certain countries

Dedicated IPs may not perform as well as shared IPs for streaming services or in countries with high internet censorship.

You can see your dedicated IP but can’t connect to it

Dedicated IPs in the ExpressVPN app only work on the Lightway protocol. To make sure you’re connected to it:

  1. Go to Profile.
  2. Select VPN protocol.
  3. Select Lightway – UDP or Lightway – TCP.
  4. Try connecting again.

Your dedicated IP is locked

Your dedicated IP may appear as “LOCKED” after you reinstall the ExpressVPN app or set up your dedicated IP on a new device. If you don’t see an option to unlock it with your access code or if it remains unlocked after entering the code, try reinstalling the ExpressVPN app.

You’ve lost access to your dedicated IP

Your IP may have expired if all your ExpressVPN apps have been offline for more than two months (or one month on a monthly plan). In rare cases, data center or IP provider issues can cause you to lose access. In both cases, you’ll be notified in the app, and our Support Team can help you set up a new dedicated IP.

Some websites do not load while using the dedicated IP

This may mean that a website has flagged or blocked the dedicated IP address. You can try switching to a regular VPN server to confirm whether the issue is specific to the dedicated IP. If only one or two websites are affected, the issue is likely site-specific rather than a problem with your VPN connection.

If you are still having issues with your dedicated IP, please contact our Support Team to review your case.
