Introducing EventVPN: the first free VPN with unlimited privacy at its core

EventVPN – from the team behind ExpressVPN – is a new, free VPN built on premium infrastructure that delivers premium privacy at no cost.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS; September 18th, 2025 — The team behind ExpressVPN, a leading consumer privacy and security company, has launched a world-first—a free VPN with unlimited privacy at its core. EventVPN is a no-cost VPN, available to download and use for free via the Apple App Store, and is the first to blend premium VPN architecture with a privacy-first advertising model.

In recent years, the VPN market has been flooded with low-quality free VPNs that harvest data and sell it to the highest bidder. But in moments where privacy is threatened, users turn to free VPNs that often do not operate in their best interests. EventVPN has been designed as a direct response to this phenomenon, from the ground up, to break this cycle—putting cutting-edge privacy technology in the hands of those who need it most.

Structurally, EventVPN is unique—it does not rely on a backend or database to manage users. Instead, it uses Apple account validation and subscription receipts to confirm whether a user has an active subscription.

Once validated, EventVPN issues an anonymous access and connection token. This token allows the user to connect securely to the infrastructure provided by ExpressVPN, without the need for storing or managing personal user data.

In-app advertising hinges on Apple’s ATT and IDFA systems. This advertising ID is a random identifier that detaches user data from the advertising process. Practically, this means that any advertising stays entirely separate and distinct from the hardware that makes VPN connections possible.

“The nature of privacy is changing materially across the world. Social media bans, censorship, and restrictions of digital accessibility are on the rise and, in many ways, have become expected. Each and every time online privacy is threatened, downloads of unsafe VPNs peak”, says Shay Peretz, Chief Operating Officer at ExpressVPN. “Privacy should be a human right, not just limited to those who can pay for it with money.”

EventVPN features include:

  • Kill Switch
  • RAM-only servers
  • No-Logs policy
  • ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption
  • World-leading backend audits
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • A 10Gbps server network
  • Built-in speed test
  • A built-in private browser

EventVPN offers a free version for 1 device with servers in 35+ countries, and a paid version featuring 8 devices and 125+ locations for 69.99 USD per year. At launch, EventVPN will also support iOS 26 with Liquid Glass compatibility as standard. Relying on ExpressVPN’s new Post-Quantum WireGuard protocol, EventVPN delivers a world-first: premium privacy for all.
