This tutorial will show you how to set up MediaStreamer on your Samsung Smart TV. MediaStreamer can enhance your streaming experience online but does not provide the encryption benefits of a VPN.

Note: The steps in this tutorial were tested on a Samsung 5500 Series Smart TV. The steps to changing the DNS should be similar on most Samsung Smart TVs.

Disclaimer: Samsung Smart TVs are region-locked to your place of purchase. Even when using MediaStreamer, some apps will remain region-locked. To deal with this issue, you will have to change the region of your Smart TV, which is beyond the scope of this article.

1. Get your DDNS hostname

To use MediaStreamer, you need to first get a DDNS hostname. A DDNS hostname provides a fixed point of reference that allows ExpressVPN to recognize your device as eligible for MediaStreamer access, even if your IP address is continually changed by your internet service provider.

Important: Dynu’s standard free service is perfectly sufficient for most users. You do not need to create more than the four free hostnames in order to use MediaStreamer.

Go to https://www.dynu.com and click Create Account.

Click "Create Account."

Fill in the details, then click Submit. You will receive the account verification email from Dynu. If it is not in your inbox, please check your spam folder.

Click "Submit" to create an account.

Open the link in the verification email and log in to your account. Then, select DDNS Services.

Select "DDNS Services."

Click + Add to add a DDNS service.

Click "Add" to add a DDNS service.

If you do not have a hostname already, enter your desired hostname in Option 1, then click + Add. This is the recommended option for users who are less familiar with domain names.

Enter your desired hostname in Option 1.

If you already have your own domain name, enter your domain name in Option 2 and click + Add.

Enter your existing hostname in Option 2.

Once done, you will see your hostname at the top and your current public IP under IPv4 Address. Toggle the settings in the middle OFF, then click Save. However, if you wish to receive email notifications from Dynu, set Email Notification to ON.

Your DDNS hostname is set up and ready to be used.
