iOS Device Stuck on “Disconnecting”

To use our apps and configurations, please sign up for an ExpressVPN account first.

If you are connected to a VPN server location and cannot disconnect from it on your iOS device, please try the following steps:

  1. Change your VPN protocol:
    1. Tap the Menu Icon (≡) in the top left corner of your screen
    2. Tap VPN Protocol
    3. Change the protocol to IPSec
    4. Change the protocol back to Automatic or any other protocol
    5. Return to the main screen and connect to a server location
  2. If the above does not work, please restart your device:
    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the side of your device until the red slider appears
    2. Drag the slider to the right to turn your iOS device off
    3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo
  3. If the two above steps do not resolve the problem, please uninstall and then reinstall ExpressVPN on your device
