Note: Fasted Location is currently only available on the ExpressVPN apps for Android and iOS.

ExpressVPN’s Fastest Location feature enables you to connect to the server that works best for your network at that moment.

In total, Fastest Location suggests up to five server locations. These are labeled as Fastest Servers and can be found in the VPN Locations picker.

Each location includes connection strength indicators to let you know the quality of the connection. These refresh automatically as conditions change, giving you up-to-date information instead of static rankings.

When to use Fastest Location

You are recommended to use Fastest Location if you:

  • Want a secure and private connection
  • Want the fastest VPN speeds for your current location
  • Do not have a location preference

How to connect with Fastest Location

Android

By default, Fastest Location is suggested the first time you connect to ExpressVPN. Select On button. to connect.

If you want to switch to one of the other server locations suggested by Fastest Location:

  1. On the VPN tab, tap Change.
  2. Under Fastest Servers, tap your server location of choice. By default, Fastest Servers displays the top 3 fastest servers. If you want to choose for more server locations, tap Top 3 (Rating) > Top 5.

If you want to reconnect to your Fastest Location after connecting to other VPN locations:

  1. On the VPN tab, tap Change.
  2. Under Fastest Servers, tap the server location marked Fastest Location. You will be connected to the VPN automatically.
iOS

By default, Fastest Location is suggested the first time you connect to ExpressVPN. Select On button. to connect.

If you want to switch to one of the other server locations suggested by Fastest Location:

  1. On the VPN tab, tap Change.

What is Fastest Location auto-pick?

Fastest Location auto-pick controls whether the app shows the Fastest Location after you disconnect from the VPN.

When this setting is on (it’s enabled by default on iOS and Android), the app shows the Fastest Location in the location picker under the main connect button on the VPN tab. The app chooses this server using real-time data like speed, latency, and distance, so you get the best connection for your network.

If you connect to a different server and then disconnect, the app will then show the Fastest Location, not the server you last used.

If you turn Fastest Location auto-pick off, the app shows the last server location you connected to after you disconnect, instead of the Fastest Location.

Turning this setting off doesn’t disable Fastest Location. It only changes what the app shows after you disconnect. You can still find and connect to Fastest Location at any time by tapping Change in the location picker.
