NFL International Game Pass vs. NFL+

Until this year, there were two versions of NFL Game Pass: Game Pass International, and U.S. Game Pass. In 2022, the NFL discontinued U.S. Game Pass and introduced the NFL+ app. What’s the difference between watching NFL Game Pass International and NFL+ in the U.S.?

NFL+

Price: 5-10 USD/month, or 40-80 USD/year

New in 2022, the NFL+ app offers NFL game live streams for a single team (within your home market) along with national primetime games. It is only available for live streams on mobile and tablet devices. It provides streams of out-of-market preseason games, live game audio (for all games, with all feeds), and the NFL Films archive. A higher tier, NFL+ Premium (which costs 10 USD/month) also includes ad-free game replays (both full and condensed) across all devices, along with ad-free Coaches Film. NFL+ has a seven-day free trial.

NFL Game Pass International

Price: From 75 USD/year

In most other markets, such as Mexico, Brazil, and most EU countries, the international NFL Game Pass offers all 256 regular-season games plus the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl. Users trying to watch the NFL in the UK or Ireland are subject to blackouts on some games, and for viewers who want to stream the NFL in Canada, Game Pass is available exclusively through DAZN.

Most international Game Pass subscribers get access to NFL RedZone, the NFL Network, and all NFL Films programming. There’s a seven-day free trial available.

All TNF games will air at 8:20 p.m. ET each week.

More Game Pass Information

If you’re looking for more information before committing to a Game Pass subscription, here are some answers to some of the questions you may have:

Is NFL Game Pass UK the same as International Game Pass?

In a word, no. Regional broadcasting rights in the UK and the Republic of Ireland mean certain games are subject to blackout restrictions.

This applies even if a subscriber from the UK or Ireland is in another part of the EU. Existing EU Portability Regulations require UK and Ireland blackout restrictions to apply no matter where in the EU the subscriber is.

Can I watch NFL Game Pass in Europe?

EU viewers who subscribe to NFL Game Pass from most locations other than the UK or Ireland should have access to all games live, although limited blackouts may apply if such users try to watch from the UK or Ireland.

Where is the cheapest location to get NFL International Game Pass?

NFL international Game Pass prices vary from region to region, but South American locations tend to offer the lowest prices, which can get as low as 75 USD for the season. For information about specific countries, contact ExpressVPN Support.

Subscription refunds are valid up to seven days from the purchase date. Free trial refunds are valid up to three days after the trial ends. More details can be found on the NFL Digital Care site.

Which devices can I watch International NFL Game Pass on?

NFL Game Pass works on the following devices. To set up ExpressVPN on your device, follow the corresponding link below:

NFL schedule 2022

The 2022-23 NFL season officially kicked off on Thursday, September 8 at 8:20 p.m. when the Buffalo Bills visit the reigning Super Bowl champs, the Los Angeles Rams. To see the full NFL schedule for 2022 and find out when your team is playing, visit NFL.com.

NFL Games of the Week

From potential playoff previews to matchups showcasing some of football’s best young talents, we have you covered with the best NFL games to stream this week. You can stream every game, all season long on NFL Game Pass but we have also noted alternative streaming options.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns – Thursday, September 22, 8:20 p.m. EDT / 1:20 a.m. BST: Both the Steelers and Browns followed thrilling Week 1 victories with crushing home losses last weekend. Is this the week we finally see Pittsburgh rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett replace Mitchell Trubisky under center? Note that Thursday’s clash will exclusively air on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. outside of the Pittsburgh and Cleveland markets.

Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills – Sunday, September 25, 1:05 p.m. EDT / 6:05 p.m. BST: Is Tua Tagovailoa the real deal? Due largely to his six passing touchdowns and on-field demeanor (even if Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill used a far more colorful expression), Miami rallied from a 21-point deficit and shocked the favored Ravens last week. A home victory over Josh Allen and the Bills would go a long way in affirming that, yes, the Alabama great deserves to be the Dolphins’ franchise quarterback. Watch for free on Australia’s 7plus.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams  – Sunday, September 25, 4:25 p.m. EDT / 9:25 p.m. BST: These NFC West rivals meet for the first time since last January’s NFC Wild Card Round. Although the Cardinals remain without suspended receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Birds face a Rams team that, despite beating the scrappy Atlanta Falcons last week, still hasn’t found an offensive groove. Watch for free on 7plus.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Green Bay Packers – Sunday, September 25, 4:25 p.m. EDT / 9:25 a.m. BST: If the most recent Tom Brady drama is any indication, then the seven-time Super Bowl champion is definitely playing his final season. Could this Sunday mark the last time Brady faces Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers? Well, not if their teams meet again in the postseason—or if Brady finds himself on the Minnesota Vikings next season. This game will air on Fox.

Denver Broncos vs. San Francisco 49ers – Sunday, September 25, 8:20 p.m. EDT / 1:20 a.m. BST: The 49ers’ Super Bowl hopes rest in Jimmy Garoppolo’s hands (and on his shoulder … and legs) after second-year quarterback Trey Lance’s season-ending ankle injury. Whether or not the unexpected QB change helps or hurts San Francisco’s pursuit of a sixth Lombardi Trophy remains to be seen. Stream the game on NBC and Peacock.

New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys – Monday, September 26, 8:15 p.m. EDT / 1:15 a.m. BST: Pop quiz: When did the New York Giants last open a season with three straight wins? That would be 2009, when Big Blue actually started 5-0 before losing eight of their final 11 games and missing the playoffs entirely. What if these Giants, projected to finish last in the NFC East, are different? We’ll certainly have an opportunity to learn more when they host the Cowboys on Monday night. The game airs on ESPN.

2022 NFL early season storylines

From veteran quarterbacks in new places to potential superstar rookies, there are no shortage of intriguing storylines this preseason. Here’s what we’re keeping an eye on throughout the summer.

Enter the Jets? Although the New York Jets own the NFL’s longest postseason drought, Gang Green appears ready to change its fortunes after a decade-plus of misery. New York upgraded its offense during the offseason, signing guard Laken Tomlinson and drafting Ohio State receiver Garrett Wilson. Rookie defensive lineman Jermaine Johnson II and cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner each arrived with fanfare. Don’t look now, but the Jets might not be a laughingstock much longer.

Free agent watch: Training camp began with numerous high-profile free agents still waiting to ink a new contract. Keep an eye on ex-Los Angeles Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who is recovering from a torn ACL sustained in February’s Super Bowl victory. The Jets signed former Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Duane Brown following 2020 first-round pick Mekhi Becton‘s season-ending injury. Cam Newton, who spent last season with the Carolina Panthers, is arguably the top remaining free-agent quarterback.

Old faces, new places: The quarterback carousel proved extremely busy throughout the NFL offseason. Former Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson is now on the Cleveland Browns, who subsequently traded former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers in July. Seattle Seahawks legend Russell Wilson will continue his career with the Denver Broncos. After missing the playoffs in 2021, the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders will try to get the most out of Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz, respectively.

Trey Lance’s time cut short: The San Francisco 49ers appeared ready to move on from veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who came minutes shy of winning the Super Bowl in February 2020. However, Jimmy G instead stuck around and regained his starting position in Week 2 following Trey Lance’s season-ending ankle injury.

Young Jaguars: After the Urban Meyer experiment failed disastrously, the Jaguars hired former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson to accelerate the newest rebuild. The Super Bowl LII-winning coach at least has a talented young core in young quarterback Trevor Lawrence, pass-rusher Josh Allen, and defensive lineman Travon Walker, who went first overall in April’s NFL Draft.

Other professional football leagues

As football fans waited for the 2022 NFL season to begin, they still had plenty of ways to get their gridiron fix. Here’s our guide on which professional football leagues you need to try watching this summer.

Canadian Football League

What to know: Until the NFL returns, the CFL is your best bet for legitimate professional football. The 2022 Canadian campaign began in June and will run through November 20, when two teams will battle it out for the 109th Grey Cup. Dallas Cowboys fans will recognize BC Lions receiver Lucky Whitehead, who has carved out a solid career up North.

Our favorite way to watch with a VPN: All CFL games air in the U.S. on ESPN networks, though some are exclusive to ESPN+, which costs 7 USD/month and comes with a seven-day free trial. ESPN+ is also available in a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu’s on-demand service for 14 USD/month.

Fan Controlled Football

What to know: Have you ever watched an NFL game and believed you’d call better plays? The Fan Controlled Football league offers such an opportunity. Fans vote on all offensive plays in real time and even decide the outcomes of instant-replay reviews. Ex-Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, plays for the FCF Zappers.

Our favorite way to watch with a VPN: All FCF games air on the league’s official Twitch channel.

  1. Since there wasn’t a single mention of the Steelers in the above recap of week 1 (they are from Pittsburgh For any newcomers in the house) it seems reasonable to not mention them, I suppose. They won a tough game in Buffalo against the Bills and have, arguably, the toughest schedule in nthe NFL this season. I just want to go on record as suggesting you ain’t seen nothing yet. Just sayin’.

  2. I’ve always loved the game of football itself, but never ever liked the NFL as an organization.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around & understanding the logic behind letting international customers watch most of the games live but not here in the US where the frigging game originated!
I tell ya it’s unamerican & the NFL should be held accountable!
Think I’ll start a movement to call out the NFL for treating US citizens this way, cause if it wasn’t for us fans here in the US the NFL wouldn’t exist!

  3. Hi!

I signed on yesterday and tried to get DAZN Canada, but unfortunately it didn’t work as it showed me an error when trying to sign in to DAZN. I looked up the error online on reddit and someone suggested trying from Vancouver but that didn’t work.
I tried going to the NFL game pass mexico site but it appeared to be blocked.

Has Dazn/NFL blocked Express VPN? if not, are there other ways for me to work this out?

    Thanks,

  4. I have expressvpn. I connected to Thailand and went to gamepass and started a trail for their top tier package. But whenever i go to watch the videos it just sits ad loading with the dots.

I’ve cleared my browser cookies and histrory, I’ve downloaded the browser extension, I tried both chrome and firefox, i updated flash…but still no go….Can you help me figure this out?

    1. Hi Brent,

Try watching through the international version of NFL Game Pass. Simply connect to a non-U.S. location (you can get further advice by contacting Support: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat) and purchase the Game Pass. This will give you access to every Falcons game, including the preseason and postseason, all the way up to the Super Bowl.

How are you feeling about the season? We’re expecting a bounce-back campaign for Atlanta after last year!

  5. I just moved from NY to Florida and want to stream and watch my NY Jets football games on my tv not a mobile device. I do not want to get satelite service just to get nfl sunday ticket. Do you have a solution that will work for me that is not too complicated? i have very good internet speeds
    Thanks

  6. Hello, I was bombed by NFL Game Pass that I can no longer get Game Pass in 2019 from Panama Central America where I live. I cover the Miami Dolphins for a living, so this puts me in a bind. I used the coaches cam on Game Pass regularly, so getting access to it , and the games is paramount to me smiling again. How can I get my former access back through your VPN? Just purchase, download, and then resign up for Game Pass? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi Susan,

If you’re watching in a web browser, please first connect to the VPN and make sure you have the ExpressVPN browser extension (https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/expressvpn-browser-extension/) activated. If you’re watching on a mobile device, please make sure you’re connected to the VPN and allow location access if prompted.

For further assistance, please contact the Support team at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat

    1. Hi Luke,

Did you purchase the U.S. Game Pass or the international Game Pass?

If you’re using the international Game Pass, you should have no problem watching the games. Please try connecting to a non-U.S. VPN location before watching one of the games.

If you bought the U.S. Game Pass, you won’t be able to watch any of the games live. However, you can use Sling or any of the other services mentioned above. They all come with a free trial.

  7. My husband is an avid Steelers fan. We live in Virginia so are subjected to plenty of blackouts on the season games. We have a full cable package on Comcast so are not limited by that source. We don’t have a smart TV but do have Samsung S9 phones on Verizon. What is our best option to see the games live?

      1. Quick Question – Once I sign up for the International Game Pass, do I need to VPN everytime I want to use it? Or can i just use my login and get access?

I would love to use the NFL APP on the Apple TV to navigate the games but not sure if I need to VPN in everytime in order to watch it.

    1. Hi Daniel,

The easiest way to watch TNF is on Twitch. Simply connect to the VPN and head to https://www.twitch.tv/primevideo. 11 TNF games will be shown on Twitch.

You can also watch all of the TNF games (as well as all other NFL games) with the international Game Pass. Simply follow the instructions above and be sure to contact Support if you encounter any issues: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat

  8. Just signed up for game pass via Germany server. Looks like I’m good to go with streaming live. Question: will I nerd to install expressvpn at the router level to use the NFL app on my Xbox one now that my international account is active? Like, will it black out a game if it knows my Xbox is stateside?

    1. Hi Zeke,

For Game Pass, connect to a VPN location in Asia and then purchase/access the international Game Pass. If you only want to follow the Dolphins, you can select the “Follow Your Team” package and save some money. If you need guidance on which locations to use, please speak to Support: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat

Another option to check out is NFL Sunday Ticket. DirecTV offers NFL Sunday Ticket as a standalone product, but you’ll need to prove that your address doesn’t support DirecTV or that you live in a multi-unit residence (like an apartment).

      Hope that helps!

  9. Want to watch the Washington Redskins from Florida, however, it is out-of-market . I downloaded ExpressVPN. Since it’s out-of-market, I have to select a Location that is not in the US, correct? I selected Canada based on the speed test. Is that correct? Now, what is the next step? Thank you.

    1. Hi Brooke,

Outside of DAZN, you can watch the games for free on mobile by downloading the NFL Mobile app or the Yahoo Sports app. Be sure to connect to a U.S. location before watching.

Otherwise, you can connect to an overseas location to purchase the international game pass. Good locations to try are Australia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.

    1. Hi Jimmy,

Some content and stream providers have started to block content based on the geolocation of users. The ExpressVPN browser extension prevents your browser from revealing your location and can help you access streams with privacy, no matter where you are.

Using the browser extension is not necessary for many sites, but for others, this will ensure an interruption-free streaming experience.

  10. I recently purchased NFL Game Pass, to watch the Kansas City Chiefs games while overseas. I didn’t realize the restrictions on watching overseas, so I just bought ExpressVPN, hoping that I can make it look like I’m still in the US. However, when I try to access the games, I am still having issues. In theory, should I be able to use ExpressVPN to watch the games outside of the US? If so, do you know what might be going wrong?

        1. I have trying to figure out how to watch the Colts for the past 2 years I have lived in Montana. The only teams that they ever play here are Seattle, Denver, Green Bay, Minnesota, and the nationally televised games. I’ve only gotten to watch 2 Colts games live in 2 years and one of the times I was actually in Texas. I’ve tried the VPN on my phone, Xbox one, laptop, and Roku Smart TV. All trying to use the NFL app. And I’ve also tried free trials of Sling, Fubo, YouTube, and just about anything else on all my devices and even being connected to the VPN it still only offers me the same teams/games. What would you recommend I try? And what location would be best for me to try and connect to? Thanks

          1. Is there a way to do it without using international game pass? I really just want to watch one team so I don’t want to pay that much when I could possibly do it with a cheaper subscription.

    1. Hi Jade,

It depends on where you are. Verizon (via the NFL Mobile and Yahoo Sports apps) offers free streams, but you’ll need to check if the Eagles are an in-market game for where you are. Otherwise, you can sign up for any of the other paid packages, just be sure to cancel before the free trial ends and catch any other games you’re missing on Twitch (for free!)

    1. Hi Billy,

Not necessarily. This past season, Yahoo Sports offered free streams for the playoffs. Amazon offered free Thursday Night Football, while services like Sling TV showed regular season games and come with a free trial. With a VPN, a cable subscription is nice but not necessary 🙂

  11. I’m from Philadelphia, but will be in Israel for the Superbowl. The hotel that I’m staying at says that they don’t have Fox Sports, so I need to live stream the event to my devices–my iPhone 7 plus and my pad, which is an Android. For the latter, I was going to use ExpressVPN and YouTube TV, which is what you were saying a few days ago. But now you are saying to download TV player and have a TV license. Do I really need a licence? How do I get one? If I have to download TV Player, do I have to select a UK server thru ExpressVPN? Will the option that you were originally suggesting NOT work, i.e., ExpressVPN, selecting a US server, and using YouTube TV?

As a back-up, I was going to use ExpressVPN on my cell phone, select a US server, and download the Yahoo Sports app. Will that work?

Please advise on both matters. Thanks!
