When are Europa League matches played?

The ‘league’ part of the tournament usually starts in mid-September. Matches are played on Thursday evenings every two weeks until mid-December.

The Europa League then switches to a knockout format, which starts with the ‘Round of 32’ in mid-February. Matches are then played most weeks until the final, always on Thursday nights.

The 2019 Europa League final kicks off at 3 p.m. Eastern Time (U.S.) on May 29 at Olympic Stadium, Baku.

Chelsea vs. Arsenal: Who wins the Europa League?

Premier League titans Arsenal and Chelsea will clash in the Europa League’s first-ever all-English final. The Gunners will need to keep a leash on the mercurial Eden Hazard while the Blues must fend off Arsenal’s electric duo of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It’s not every year the Europa League Final can look like its Champions League counterpart, but with these two talented squads in the mix, this has the smell of an instant classic!
