Preliminary action: Please upgrade to the latest version of ExpressVPN (which contains the latest ExpressVPN TAP Driver) first. If you already have the latest version of ExpressVPN, please uninstall and then reinstall your app.

Click Start (or hit the Windows key) to open the Start Menu.

  • Type « run«
  • Select Run under « Programs » to open the Run dialog box

In the Run dialog box, type « ncpa.cpl » and click OK.

In the Network Connections window, find the TAP adapter. Its name usually begins with Local Area Connection and is labeled TAP-Win32.

Right-click the TAP adapter that you wish to uninstall/delete then click Properties.

A new window will open. In the Networking tab, click on Configure…

Another window will appear for the TAP-Windows Adapter V9 Properties. Click on Driver tab then on Uninstall.

A confirmation dialog will appear. Click OK to uninstall the current tap adapter.

Once the adapter has been uninstalled, click OK until you reach the Network Connections window again.

Note: If there are multiple TAP adapters, repeat the above process until you only have one Win32-TAP adapter left.

Restart ExpressVPN and connect to a server location.

If you are still encountering issues, first restart your computer, then start ExpressVPN and connect to a server location.

If the problem persists after restarting your computer, re-install ExpressVPN. You do not need to uninstall the app first. Simply run the installation program again.
