Find your ExpressVPN account credentials
To begin, sign in to your ExpressVPN account.
Once you’ve clicked the link in the welcome email or signed in to the website, click on Set Up on More Devices.
Click on Manual Config on the left side of the screen and then select PPTP & L2TP/IPsec on the right. This will show you your manual config username and password.
Further down the page, you’ll find a list of server addresses around the world.
Please note this information as you will need it to configure your Tenda router.
Configure your Tenda router with the VPN
If this is your first time signing in, use the credentials supplied on the router.
On the router dashboard, click on VPN.
Select PPTP/L2TP Client.
Fill in the details as follows:
- PPTP/L2TP Client: Toggle on
- Client Type: L2TP
- Server IP Address/Domain Name: A server name you found above
- User Name: The ExpressVPN username you found above
- Password: The ExpressVPN password you found above
When you see you are successfully connected, check your IP to ensure you are connected to the VPN via your router.
Note: You can also use these steps to set up a PPTP connection. However, as PPTP is much less secure than L2TP, ExpressVPN recommends using the L2TP setup.
Connect to another VPN server
To connect to a different ExpressVPN location, change the VPN server address next to Server IP Address/Domain Name and click Connect.
When you see you are successfully connected, check your IP to ensure you are connected to the new location via your router.
Disconnect from the VPN server
To disconnect from the VPN server, turn the toggle next to PPTP/L2TP Client off and click Save.
