NBA stars to watch at EuroBasket 2022

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Greece

The Milwaukee Bucks phenom is an NBA champion and two-time MVP award winner, so will be desperate to help Greece prove itself on the international stage, having last won the competition in 2005.  He’ll also be playing alongside two of his brothers on the Greek team.

Luka Dončić, Slovenia

The Dallas Mavericks point guard was just 18 (and playing in Spain for Real Madrid) when he won the EuroBasket in 2017. He has since emerged into a legit NBA superstar who can single-handedly win games for club and country, though Chicago Bulls point guard Goran Dragić’s veteran experience will also come in handy for Slovenia.

Nikola Jokić, Serbia

Serbia missed out on Tokyo 2020 but the Denver Nuggets center is coming off the back of two consecutive regular season MVP awards with a point to prove. The big man’s creativity is a key component to his game and unlocking opposition defenses.

Rudy Gobert, France

France took silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the Minnesota Timberwolves center will be essential to its quest to go one better at EuroBasket 2022. A multiple Defensive Player of the Year winner, Gobert will be one of Les Bleus’ most valuable players at the tournament, alongside New York Knicks guard Evan Fournier.

Franz Wagner, Germany

The Orlando Magic forward has shown flashes of brilliance during the qualifying campaign and could help Germany light up a competitive Group B, with NBA stars such as Dennis Schröder (free agent) and Daniel Theis (Indiana Pacers) alongside.
