If you see the following error message in your installer log:

Error 1721. There is a problem with this Window Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: Uninstall3x, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\ExpressVPN\Uninstall.exe, command: /S"_?=C:\Program Files (x86)\ExpressVPN\""

Click Start (or hit the Windows key) to open the Start Menu.

  • Type “regedit
  • Select regedit from the search results

You will now see the User Account Control dialog box. Click Yes to proceed.

In the Registry Editor, under Computer, double-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, double-click on SOFTWARE and then ExpressVPN.

If you cannot find ExpressVPN directly beneath SOFTWARE, go to SOFTWARE ClassesExpressVPN.

Right-click on ExpressVPN and then click Delete.

After deletion, you should no longer see ExpressVPN under Wow6432Node.

If you see that ExpressVPN is still listed as an available VPN connection after uninstalling:

  1. Click the Start button, and then press Windows key + R (for any other Windows OS) to launch the run command.
  2. Type ncpa.cpl on the run command and then press Enter to go to your Network Connections window.
  3. On your Network Connections window, right-click on the WAN Miniport labeled ExpressVPN.
  4. Click Delete.

You can now install the latest version of ExpressVPN.
