This guide will show you how to find the version of macOS (previously Mac OS X) on your MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro, or Mac mini. To use the latest version of the ExpressVPN Mac app, you will need macOS 10.13 or above.

To find the version of macOS on your device:

  1. Click "Apple" icon. > About This Mac.
  2. The version name and number will appear at the top.

If you are using a compatible version of Mac OS X or macOS, you can use the latest version of ExpressVPN Mac app.

For macOS 10.12 or below

If you are using macOS 10.12 or below, upgrade to macOS 10.13 or above.

Cannot update my current OS version

If you cannot update your Mac OS X 10.11 and macOS 10.12: You can still download or update the ExpressVPN app on your device. However, it will only include major security updates and will not have any new features that are released to the latest version of ExpressVPN for Mac.

If you cannot update your Mac OS X 10.10 or below: Use the OpenVPN or L2TP manual configurations.
