The Nokia N900 is one of the few smartphones for which an OpenVPN client is available. Here are steps to get it setup. Note that this uses third-party software outside of ExpressVPN's control. If you feel unsure about that, please contact us to get a PPTP/L2TP account instead.

 

 

Nokia N900 (OS Maemo)

 1. Go to http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/openvpn/ and download the OpenVPN software Open VPN v2.1~rc20-3maemo3.

This will install only Open VPN software.

2. Download and install the Open VPN GUI: to install OpenVPN Applet v0.5.3-1 go to http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/openvpn-applet/ and press install.

 

3.  Download your ExpressVPN configuation ZIP file to your desktop.  You received the link when you signed up. We also sent the installer to you via email. Contact us if you can't find it anymore.

 

4. Upload the configuration folder to your N900. 

5. Open the OpenVPN GUI and press manage connections -> new -> configuration file

 

 

6.  Find the folder with the ExpressVPN files which you uploaded in step 4 and open the configuration file.

7.  Press the Import button

8. A new connection "ExpressVPN" should be listed.

9. Return to the desktop and click on Task Manager. A new connection option "OpenVPN" should be visible.

10. Click on "OpenVPN" and select "Connect to ExpressVPN".

11. You should see a working OpenVPN connection.  You are now connected.
